Bus Rolls Down Hill in Udhampur Jammu and Kashmir 12 Killed in Tragic Accident

JAMMU, Apr 20: Twelve people were killed and several others injured after a passenger bus rolled down a hill in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday, officials said.

The accident occurred around 10 am on a hilly road while the bus was negotiating a blind curve near Kagort village in the Ramnagar area.

Officials said a major rescue operation is underway. Several injured passengers have been shifted to nearby hospitals, and many are reported to be in critical condition.

The bus was travelling to Udhampur from a remote village when the mishap took place.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said he spoke to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa soon after learning about the incident at village Kanote. He said rescue efforts were launched immediately and all possible assistance is being provided. The injured are being given medical aid, and arrangements are being made to airlift those seriously injured. He added that he is in constant touch with the local administration and ground teams led by Rajinder Sharma. (Agency)
