Punjab Police Bust Drug and Arms Module in Hoshiarpur, 4 Arrested with 9 Kg Heroin

CHANDIGARH, Apr 20: Punjab Police on Monday said it has busted a major narcotics and illegal arms module with the arrest of four accused persons and recovery of over nine kg of heroin along with pistols and ammunition in Hoshiarpur.

In what officials described as a significant breakthrough, Hoshiarpur Police dismantled an inter-state and foreign-linked network involved in drug trafficking and illegal arms supply. Police recovered 9.925 kg heroin, two foreign-made pistols, eight magazines, and 40 live cartridges during the operation, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.

Preliminary investigation suggests the arrested individuals were working as local operatives for foreign-based handlers involved in narcotics smuggling and weapons supply, he added.

An FIR has been registered at Garhshankar police station in Hoshiarpur. Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages and dismantle the wider network, the DGP said. (Agencies)
