Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid Bail: Court Reserves Order on Interim Bail Plea

New Delhi, April 22 : A court at Patiala House on Wednesday reserved its order on the interim bail plea of Baramulla Member of Parliament Abdul Rashid Sheikh (Er. Rashid), who has sought temporary release to meet his ailing father currently on ventilator support.

Sources told Kashmir News agency that Er. Rashid, who is in custody, approached the court seeking interim bail on humanitarian grounds. During the hearing, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) opposed the plea, citing a confidential report, and argued that interim bail should not be granted. However, the agency indicated that custody parole could be considered as an alternative.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court reserved its order and listed the matter for pronouncement on April 24, sources added.

Er. Rashid, the sitting MP from Baramulla, remains in custody in connection with an NIA case. His legal counsel stressed the urgency of his father’s critical health condition, while the prosecution opposed the request citing security concerns. (Agency)
