Kavitha Launches New Political Outfit Named TRS, Makes Strong Remarks on KCR

Hyderabad, Apr 25: Telangana Jagruthi president and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter, K Kavitha, on Saturday announced the launch of a new political outfit named ‘Telangana Rashtra Sena’ (TRS).

Kavitha made the announcement at an event on the city outskirts, where she also unveiled the party’s agenda and launched a sharp attack on the ruling Congress, BJP, and BRS. She described her father as a “changed man” who has become “soulless”.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), headed by KCR, was originally known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) before it was renamed in 2022 after the party’s national expansion plan.

Alleging corruption, family rule, and favouritism across major political parties, Kavitha announced a set of five promises titled ‘Panchajanya’, which includes free education, healthcare, and other welfare measures.

She also criticised her father KCR and brother K T Rama Rao, saying that KCR has been speaking without “political maturity” in recent times.

“We can understand if KTR speaks like that. But KCR says people made a mistake. As a mother, if my son makes a mistake, I don’t abandon him,” she said.

Kavitha said she was compelled to form a new political outfit as her father has not been addressing public issues effectively. She alleged that during the current Congress regime, KCR has remained silent on key concerns such as demolitions, flooding of agricultural land, and fatal road accidents.

Referring to KCR, she said, “He is now a changed man, a mechanical man. I say this with pain.”

She further claimed that if KCR had shown true commitment to Telangana, he would have completed key irrigation projects instead of focusing on expanding the party nationally.

Kavitha also alleged that after losing power, BRS lost its “mother-like nature”, and accused KCR of sidelining her after she raised corruption issues related to the Kaleshwaram project.

“That is not our KCR. The present KCR is like a soulless mechanical doll,” she said.

Launching attacks on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, she described him as “heartless” and “dictatorial”, citing demolitions, student deaths in welfare schools, and custodial death allegations.

She also targeted the BJP, accusing it of opposing Telangana’s formation and social justice, and criticised remarks made by national leaders regarding the state’s formation and bifurcation.

Kavitha further challenged BJP MPs from Telangana to address issues related to the transfer of villages during state bifurcation.

She expressed confidence that her party would come to power after the 2028 Assembly elections, outlining promises including free education, healthcare, free electricity, four lakh government jobs, and 50 per cent reservation for BCs in political representation.

Kavitha was suspended from BRS in September 2025 following internal disputes over allegations related to the Kaleshwaram project. Since then, she has been active under Telangana Jagruthi, a cultural organisation she heads. (Agency)
