Highlighting the hardships faced by Jammu and Kashmir in the past, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said that while the region has suffered a lot, it is now steadily moving towards development along with the rest of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was speaking at an event in Srinagar that showcased the rich heritage of J&K, including handicrafts, local cuisine, and performing arts. The event witnessed participation from both local artisans and international guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis state has suffered a lot. But now, as the rest of the country progresses, we are also ready to become part of this journey,\u201d Abdullah said, adding that events like this reflect the diversity of India where \u201cdifferent religions, languages, food habits, and thinking\u201d come together on one platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further stated that although J&K has lost its official statehood, \u201cmentally we still consider ourselves a state.\u201d He added, \u201cWe are overcoming our difficulties and want to contribute equally to the country\u2019s growth.

Referring to the artisans of Jammu and Kashmir, he said, \u201cIt looks simple, but their work is very important. They need support in reaching markets, upgrading skills, and training the new generation.\u201d He appealed to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to look into these issues and ensure timely approvals of proposals concerning J&K\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abdullah also mentioned the inconvenience caused due to crowding at the tulip garden but said, \u201cThis beauty attracts everyone. Despite difficulties, our guests have come here, and I hope they carry beautiful memories with them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thanking Minister Kiren Rijiju and other dignitaries, including foreign representatives like Mr. Turian, for organizing the event in Srinagar, he said such programs provide a platform for local talent to shine on a larger stage.<\/p>\n\n
