The levies were introduced to ensure adequate domestic availability of fuel amid global supply concerns arising from geopolitical tensions in West Asia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"746\">Officials said the move was also aimed at preventing exporters from gaining undue advantage from price differentials, as global crude oil prices had surged following the conflict.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"748\" data-end=\"1031\">On February 28, military strikes by the United States and Israel against Iran triggered retaliation from Tehran, escalating tensions in the region. On April 8, Iran, the United States, and Israel reportedly agreed to a two-week ceasefire, easing disruptions in global energy markets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1033\" data-end=\"1079\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Export duty on petrol continues to remain nil.
