New Delhi, Apr 14: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday paid tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, on his birth anniversary, highlighting his contribution to nation-building and saying his vision continues to inspire generations to build a progressive and inclusive society.<\/p>\n
In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, \u201cTributes to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. His efforts towards nation-building are deeply motivating. His life and work continue to inspire generations to build a just and progressive society.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the eve of the 135th birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, President Droupadi Murmu also extended her greetings to citizens and paid homage to the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.<\/p>\n
In her message, the President said, \u201cOn the occasion of the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and a great social reformer, I pay my respectful homage to him.\u201d<\/p>\n
Describing Ambedkar as a jurist, economist, thinker, legal scholar and strong advocate of an egalitarian social system, President Murmu praised his lifelong commitment to nation-building and social justice.<\/p>\n
She said Ambedkar dedicated his life to the upliftment of deprived and vulnerable sections of society and played a key role in strengthening India\u2019s democratic values and constitutional rights. She also highlighted his emphasis on women\u2019s education and empowerment.<\/p>\n
The President added, \u201cOn this occasion, let us pledge to imbibe the ideals of Babasaheb Ambedkar in our lives and contribute towards building a just, inclusive and progressive nation.\u201d<\/p>\n
BR Ambedkar, fondly known as \u2018Babasaheb\u2019, was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and the first Law and Justice Minister of independent India.<\/p>\n
Born into an impoverished Dalit Mahar family in present-day Madhya Pradesh, he devoted his life to fighting for equal rights for marginalised communities and is widely regarded as a key social reformer and Dalit icon.<\/p>\n
He passed away on 6 December 1956. In 1990, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India\u2019s highest civilian honour. (Agency)<\/p>\n\n
