Vignesh Shishir, challenging a January 28 ruling of a special MP\/MLA court in Lucknow, which had earlier rejected his plea seeking registration of an FIR against the Congress leader.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"867\">The lower court had stated that it was not competent to adjudicate matters related to citizenship. Following this, the petitioner approached the high court seeking a detailed probe and registration of a case.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"869\" data-end=\"1259\">In his petition, Shishir, a resident of Karnataka, invoked provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Official Secrets Act, the Foreigners Act, and the Passport Act. He alleged possession of documents and emails purportedly from the British government to support claims that Rahul Gandhi holds British citizenship, which would make him ineligible to contest elections in India.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1414\">The complaint was initially filed before a special MP\/MLA court in Rae Bareli before being transferred to Lucknow by the high court on December 17, 2025.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1416\" data-end=\"1569\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Rahul Gandhi has previously denied allegations of dual citizenship. The case is expected to draw political attention as further legal proceedings unfold.
