Jammu, Apr 21: A 50-year-old man was detained by the Border Security Force (BSF) after he was found moving under suspicious circumstances in a forward area near the International Border, officials said on Tuesday.
According to officials, the man was spotted by a BSF patrol in the Mayan Border Out Post area in the Makwal forward belt of sub-sector Phallian Mandal on Monday evening. He was taken into custody after he failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for his presence in the sensitive zone.
Preliminary questioning suggested that the individual may be mentally challenged, officials said.
However, security agencies are not ruling out any possibility and are conducting detailed interrogation to verify his identity and ascertain the purpose of his movement in the area.
Officials further said that no incriminating material was recovered from his possession during the initial search.
The man has been handed over to police for further investigation, they added. (Agency)
