JAMMU, Apr 20: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a road accident in Udhampur district and assured all possible assistance to the affected families.
They also directed the concerned authorities to provide immediate relief and necessary support to those injured in the incident.
At least 15 people were killed and around 20 others injured when a passenger bus skidded off the road and rolled down a hill in Udhampur district earlier in the day.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor described the accident as heartbreaking and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for strength to the families and a speedy recovery of the injured, directing district administration, police, SDRF and health officials to ensure swift assistance.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the recovery of those injured. He said the government stands firmly with the victims in this difficult time and all necessary support is being provided.
Former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti also expressed grief over the tragedy, calling it deeply saddening and praying for the swift recovery of the injured. (Agency)
