New Delhi, Apr 30: Indian Hajj pilgrims will have to pay an additional ₹10,000 following a sharp rise in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, triggered by the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
The Haj Committee of India has issued a circular informing all pilgrims of Haj 2026 about the increase in airfare and directed registered applicants to deposit the additional amount under “differential airfare” by May 15.
In the circular, the Haj Committee stated that due to extraordinary circumstances arising from the ongoing crisis in the Middle East, the revised airfare includes an additional USD 100 per pilgrim, irrespective of the embarkation point, which will be borne by the pilgrims.
Officials said the decision comes after airlines reportedly sought a revision of base fares by more than USD 400, citing a sharp rise in aviation turbine fuel prices amid prevailing geopolitical tensions in the region.
All Haj 2026 pilgrims have been instructed to deposit ₹10,000 towards differential airfare by May 15.
The payment can be made through the e-payment facility available on https://hajcommittee.gov.in or the Haj Suvidha App using credit card, debit card, or net banking. It can also be deposited through specified pay-in-slip at any branch of State Bank of India or Union Bank of India using the Bank Reference Number issued to each applicant.
Authorities have also directed all State and Union Territory Haj Committees to inform concerned pilgrims immediately and ensure timely deposit of the required amount. (Agency)
