JAMMU, Apr 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has constituted a committee to verify and finalize the spelling of place names and their translations into regional languages for the preparation of official maps in Hindi and Urdu.
The move aims to ensure uniformity, accuracy, and consistency in the naming and representation of geographical locations across official records and publications.
According to officials, the committee will review existing spellings and transliterations of place names and recommend standardised versions to be used in government documents and mapping systems. (Agency)
